Welcome to our new CMO staff members
The month of July 2017 has been a time of transition in the Center for Missional Outreach!
With deep gratitude, we have said goodbye to Rev. Dr. Larry George and Rev. Marji Hill who both served the Center and our North Texas Conference in amazing ways for many years. And now, we say hello to our new CMO staff members.
Rev. Andy Lewis, Director of the Center for Missional Outreach
Andy grew up in Plano, Texas, where he and his family belonged to First UMC Plano. He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1995 with a B.A. in Plan II Honors and a concentration in premedical studies; however, as a college senior he discerned God calling him to bring healing, not to bodies, but to souls. Andy earned his M.Div. from Perkins School of Theology in 2001 and was ordained an Elder in the North Texas Conference in 2005.
In his 23 years in ministry, Andy has served as a Director of Youth Ministries at White Rock UMC, Wesley UMC in Greenville, and First UMC in Richardson; as a church planter in McKinney; and as a Senior Pastor at Holy Covenant UMC in Carrollton and, most recently, First UMC Lewisville. In his new role as Director of Missional Outreach, Andy looks forward to continuing the bold work of the Zip Code Connection, equipping local churches to reach out to their neighbors, near and far, and celebrating the many ways churches across North Texas already are transforming their communities.
Andy and his wife, Sondra, will celebrate 23 years of marriage in June, and together they have three children: Nathan (18), Jared (14), and Sara (9). In his free time, he enjoys running, reading, following sports, and being his kids’ biggest fan. You can reach Andy at email@example.com or 972-526-5112. You can follow Andy on Twitter at his new handle @lewis05021972.
Rev. Andrew Fiser, Associate Director of the Center for Missional Outreach for the Zip Code Connection
Before his appointment as Zip Code Connection Director, Andrew worked for Project Transformation as Director of Site Church and Community Development. Previously he worked with the Rio Texas Annual Conference as a planting strategist for discipling unchurched residents and new people moving into the Eagle Ford Shale oil boom corridor.
Andrew is experienced in church revitalization and community development efforts in urban Memphis and in South Texas. As a Vanderbilt Divinity School intern turned co-pastor and as pastor of Edgehill United Methodist Church in Nashville, Tennessee, Andrew led the congregation in developing ways to re-engage neighbors and build relationships with a changing community. Andrew has spent summers working in urban ministry in South Memphis, studying hunger relief ministries across Arkansas, and serving in youth ministry in two county-seat towns.
Originally from Arkansas, Andrew is a graduate of Hendrix College and comes to this work as an ordained elder in the North Texas Conference of The United Methodist Church. Andrew is excited to be a part of the innovative work of Zip Code Connection. He spends time running, Crossfitting, and on adventures with his spouse, Kaki, their three foster children, and three dogs. You can reach Andrew at firstname.lastname@example.org or 972-526-5018.
