Through proper mentoring and tutoring, North Texas United Methodists can encourage children to live into the abundant life God desires for them. Education is one of the most critical foundations of society, and as such public schools can be seen as today’s mission fields. Within schools, we find a unique opportunity to serve children and their families.
Dating back to the founding of the “Sunday School,” The United Methodist Church has a very long history of impacting education. In the late eighteenth century, it was foundational to teach children to read the Bible. Today, we are recovering our roots through the public schools in our communities, through one-on-one mentoring relationships.
One+One transforms communities through its mentorship and guidance. Students who meet regularly with their mentors are 52% less likely to skip a day of school, 27% less likely to skip a class, 37% less likely to start drinking, and 46% less likely to start using illegal drugs.
