Details:
You
are invited to learn from FUMC Denton about this hands-on ministry to
make mats out of plastic grocery sacks. On this Saturday, you will be
helping them make sleeping mats for the homeless to fulfill their first
goal of 100 by Christmas. They will be given to Our Daily Bread in
Denton as a part of a necessities package they hand out.
This workshop will be to continue work on that goal. Join in fellowship with others of all ages. There are no special skills needed, but if you can crochet that would be a plus! Please bring scissors if you can, FUMC Denton will provide the bags. You will then be able to take this ministry back to your local church and involve your children, youth groups, and adults. Infants and toddlers are welcome as well, but there is no childcare.
Through this project we are addressing 3 of the 4 Areas of Focus for the United Methodist Church:
- Combating the diseases of poverty by improving health globally. (bugs don't like the plastic mats, water resistant)
- Engaging in ministry with the poor.
- Developing principled Christian leaders for the church and the world. (inter-generational, passing on leadership to different communities etc.)
